Yoga in Raglan – Hatha Yoga

Yoga in Raglan
I currently run two Yoga classes each week in Raglan.  These are run at the Raglan Yoga Loft. I also do one-on-one and couples sessions which are a great way to introduce yourself to Yoga or return to practice if you have been away from it for a while.

There is also an option to do small groups by arrangement at interesting locations like the beach. This can be great for groups having a weekend away in Raglan wanting to get some yoga in or try new things.

My class schedule is available at Yoga Trail, no booking is necessary except over summer it would be good to come to class early.

My Yoga Journey
Whilst my teaching journey is just beginning I have been practising yoga for over 15 years.

I came to yoga to help me heal from an injury and found that the healing went much deeper than on a physical level – truly life changing stuff!

My first yoga teacher was an Iyengar teacher, so even though I have not trained in this style, I have a deep respect for the teachings and believe that in terms of alignment and technique Iyengar yoga is second to none.

This coupled with the fact that I work as a massage therapist gives me a good working knowledge of anatomy and influences my teaching style. I believe in giving people the tools to have an awareness of how their body works so they can walk into any class and know how to adjust for their particular needs.

My training was very classical Hatha; engendering a deep love for the history and philosophy of yoga and how this weaves into our practice – on and off the mat.

It is never too late to take a yoga class.

Yoga offers you a great way to exercise and keep your body flexible and energised.

As we grow older our bodies tend to hunch and compress. Yoga is especially good for you as you age or have challenges caused by accident or health issues.

It is a very gentle and relaxing technique that helps strengthen and expand the lungs, increase muscle strength, joint flexibility, improve a sense of balance, overall wellness and vitality.

An ideal way to rejuvenate the body and revitalise the mind.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha is an old and well-established form of yoga that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (yoga breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation.
